Orientation of PR officers begins in MCU

Bhopal, 14th December, 2020: The four-day orientation of Public Relations officers of MP Government commenced on Monday in Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal. In the inaugural session, Commissioner, Public Relations, Dr Sudam Khade said, credibility and authenticity of information must be maintained in view of digital media. Misinformation and fake content is also a challenge.

Presiding over the inaugural session, Vice Chancellor Prof KG Suresh said Indian cinema has portrayed negative image of polity and politicians during colonial period and after it and it needs to be changed. Better and effective public relations approach can changed it. Prof Suresh said the job of a PRO has no time limit due to presence of social media and digital media. It is now 24×7 and for 365 days. Reach and impact of news is more important than the number of news items.

Experts of Media and Public Relations including Business Head and Editor of TV-9 Rakesh Khar, senior journalist Girish Upadhyay, former rector of the University Lajpat Ahuja, senior assistant professor Dr Pavan Singh Malik, addressed the sessions. Public Relations officers also shared their experiences and difficulties.

Programme convener Prof Anurag Seetha said, corona pandemic has taught many new techniques and approaches for public relations. University Registrar Prof Avinash Bajpayee proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Garima Patel conducted the programme.

Valedictory function today (TUESDAY)

The orientation programme will be held in two-batch of the PR officers, maintaining Covid-19 protocol. The valedictory function of the first batch will take place on Tuesday at 4.30 pm. Joint director (news) Puja P Vardhan, Editor of Bansal News, Sharad Dwivedi, GreyMatters Communication Navneet Anand, Prof P. Sasikala, Dean of Jagran Lake City University, Dr Diwakar Shukla, former DG, Doordarshan, Smt Beena Jain will address different sessions. Vice chancellor prof. K.G Suresh will chair the function.
