Bhopal, 07th April, 2021: Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, today organised Makhanlal Memorial online lecture on ‘Pushp Ki Abhilasha: Sahitya Mei Rashtriyata’ to mark birthday of renowned poet and freedom fighter Pt Makhanlal Chaturvedi. Chancellor of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow, Dr Prakash Bartuniya, chief guest of the programme, said land of Madhya Pradesh produced many great literary people and journalists and Makhanlal Chaturvedi was one of them. He always followed principles in journalism and his writing reflected fearlessness and objectivity.
University Vice Chancellor Prof KG Suresh, on the occasion, said united India was the dream of Pt Makhanlal Chaturvedi. It will be materialized one day. Literature reflects society and its aspirations and plays a great role in personality and character building. Prof Suresh announced to name coming up community radio as ‘Radio Karmveer’ to recall contribution of Pt Chaturvedi in journalism and grant scholarship to a student in school named after Pt Makhanlal Chaturvedi in Babai, birthplace of the great freedom fighter.
Keynote speaker of the programme, Dean, Rajasthan University and Director (research) Prof Nand Kishore Pandey highlighted many unknown aspects of Pt Chaturvedi. He said Pundit Ji’s writing created awareness for freedom struggle. He wrote against slaughter house in Ratauna. Senior commandant, CISF, Vartul Singh said, Makhanlal Chaturvedi is known for his patriotic writing.
University is celebrating centenary year of ‘Pushp Ki Abhilasha’ poem penned by Shri Chaturvedi this year. The programme began with lighting up traditional lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Assistant registrar Vivek Savarikar conducted the programme and Registrar Dr Avinash Bajpai proposed the vote of thanks. Students of different teaching departments and Associated Study Centres attended the programme in virtual mode. It was live-streamed on Facebook as well.
