Bhopal 26 November : New Media Technology Department of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal Hosted Workshop on “Trends in Printing and Packaging”
The Department of New Media Technology at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, successfully organized a one-day workshop titled “Trends in Printing and Packaging” at the Swami Vivekananda auditorium. This event aimed to provide students with industry-driven knowledge and practical insights into the evolving printing and packaging landscape.
The workshop began with an introductory address by Head of Department Prof. (Dr) P. Sasikala, who highlighted the history of the B.Tech. (Printing & Packaging) program as one of the unique and pioneering courses in the state. She emphasized the importance of workshops aligned with industry needs for enhancing practical learning. The workshop was conducted in four sessions.
Former alumna and expert speaker Ms Mitali Upadhayay presented on “Packaging Trends in the Automotive Industry”. Her talk covered critical topics such as logistics, warehouse optimization, sustainability, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance, and CPCB guidelines, focusing on carbon footprint reduction. She also introduced the basics of SAP/EWM, IoT applications, and the packaging workflow from suppliers to customers. Discussions concluded with EV packaging requirements and career opportunities.
In the subsequent session, Mr Sandarbh Gupta delivered a presentation on “Packaging That Works: Real Problems, Real Fixes, Real Careers”, emphasizing packaging fundamentals and the importance of materials as the “last salesman”. He shared case studies of renowned brands like Tropicana and Paper Boat, highlighting real-world challenges such as misprinting and its impact on product quality.
Mr Mahendra Manware conducted a practical session on “CorelDraw for Print Designers”, demonstrating software tools, color profiles, and logo creation.
Mr Padmakar Santape showcased “Origami Block Printing”, explaining traditional block printing techniques followed by hands-on exercises.
The workshop was coordinated by Shri Abhishek Pandey, Assistant Professor, Department of New Media Technology, and attended enthusiastically by faculty and students. The event successfully equipped participants with valuable insights and skills aligned with industry requirements, marking a significant step in academic-industry collaboration.
