Bhopal, 20th January, 2021: Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Prof KG Suresh today said many hardworking researchers get trapped in fake and cloned journals and publish their papers in them as they are mushrooming across the globe.  It is important to create awareness among the academic community in this regard.

Prof Suresh was addressing an online workshop on ‘How to Catch Fake, Cloned and Predatory Journals in Academics’, organised by Department of Publications. Keynote speaker and Director of Amity School of Communication, Dr Sumit Narula, Director, Publication and workshop convener, Dr Kanchan Bhatia, In-Charge (publication) Dr Rakesh Kumar Pandey, Registrar Dr Avinash Bajpai, HoDs, teachers and research scholars were present.

Prof Suresh said, Universities are not only for teaching and learning alone but they also serve as think-tank and are dedicated to research as well.

Dr Sumit Narula, Director, Amity School of Communication, who conducted the workshop, termed fake and predatory journals as ‘academic corruption’. He said various online platforms are available today to check cloned and predatory journals. UGC-Care is one of them. Registrar Prof Vajpayee said that this workshop is very important in the age of cut-copy and paste. Researchers and publishers both are culprits in publication in cloned and predatory journals.
