MCU launches country’s first Public Relations and Advertising Research Journal
Dr. Eric Solheim, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program, released the first issue of the journal
Bhopal, 24 July 2022: The Department of Advertising and Public Relations of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication has started publication of the country’s first online research journal on Advertising and Public Relations. The first issue of the Journal of Public Relations and Advertising (JPRA) was released at a prestigious event at the university’s campus in Bisankhedi by the sixth executive director of the United Nations Environment Programme, Dr. Eric Solheim of Norway and the Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. K.G.Suresh.The Peer Review Researchjournal, published by MCU, is country’s first online research journal in the field of advertising and public relations.
Speaking at the launch event, Dr. Eric Solheim said that there is a wide scope for research in the field of public relations and advertising and University’s effort to encourage research in this area is highly commendable. Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. K.G.Suresh is the Editor-in-Chief of this research journal andHead of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, Prof. Pavitra Srivastava is the editor. Eminent experts in the field of public relations and advertising are included in the editorial board of this research journal as consultants. Prominent among them include Shri Anurag Batra, Editor-in-Chief, Business World, Former Professor of IIMC, Prof. Jayashree Jethwani ,National President of PRSI ,Dr. Ajit Pathak, Daffodil International University Dhaka, Bangladesh, Advisor Prof. Bright Anu Chaudhary and Director of Grey Matter Communication Dr Navneet Anand.
Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. K.G. Suresh said that many research journals on mass communication and media are being published but there was a lack of research journal on advertising and public relations. To meet this shortfall, the country’s first peer review research journal Public Relations and Advertising (JPRA) has been published by MCU. The research journal will provide an online platform to young people and professionals doing research in the field of advertising and public relations to publish their research works. The journal, published online every six months, has been provided with the ISSN number by CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research.Dr. Gajendra Avasya, Dr. Jaya Surjani, Dr. Anita Soni and Ms. Garima Patel are the Associate Editors of this journal.
