UNFPA aims to unlock and unleash the power that India has within it : Ms Andrea Wojnar

Bhopal, 04 May, 2023: Makhanlal Chaturvedi University of Journalism and Communication and United Nation’s Population Fund (UNFPA) signed a MOU to establish a long term cooperation and partnership in advancing the agenda of sustainable development goals in the state. The main objective of the collaboration is to institutionalize and integrate the population dynamics, adolescent development and well-being and gender concerns in the curriculum of the University with a focus on orienting and sensitising the young students of journalism and communication and equipping them to enhance their skills in reporting and communicating these issues effectively.

The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. K.G. Suresh and Ms Andrea Wojnar, Country Director UNFPA signed the MOU in a grand ceremony organised in the university campus. Makhanlal Chaturvedi University of Journalism and Communication is the only university chosen by the UNFPA to collaborate with them to train the students, Faculty members, research scholars as well as journalists. The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. K.G. Suresh expressed his happiness and said that it is moment of great pride and honour for the university as this will give the students and the faculty members an access to international exposure on population and gender issues.

Ms. ANDREA Wojnar, Country Director UNFPA said that men and women share the same responsibilities and opportunities and a real sustainable change at the policy and institutional level will bring about a change in the attitudes and behaviour of individuals. She also presented one of the only five copies of 8 Billion Lives, Infinite Possibilities to Prof. Dr. K.G. Suresh. The state head of UNFPA Shri Sunil Thomas Jacob, Deputy Representative Shriram Haridass, Registrar of the University Dr Avinash Bajpai, Dean Academics Dr. P. Sashikala,HOD’s and faculty members were also present on the occasion.
