MCU VC honoured with Bhasha Bhushan Award
Awarded for Promoting Indian languages
Datia/Bhopal, 08 September, 2024: Prof K G Suresh, Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication has been honoured with the prestigious Rashtriya Bhasha Bhushan Award. Datia Superintendent of Police Virendra Mishra presented the prestigious annual award to Prof Suresh at a glittering ceremony in Datia on Friday. The Akhil Bhartiya Sahityakar Sammelan had last year presented the award to Vikas Dave, Director of Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Parishad.Both the chief guest Mishra and Sammelan President Jagat Sharma hailed Prof Suresh’s contribution to strengthening Indian languages.
Prof Suresh had recently established the Department of Indian languages at the University and started an undergraduate Programme in Hindi Language, Translation and Technology. During his earlier stint as Director General of Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Suresh had started language programmes in Marathi, Malayalam, Urdu, Hindi and Sanskrit. As Senior Consulting Editor with Doordarshan News, Suresh had played a pivotal role in launching Vaartavali, the world’s first Sanskrit television news magazine. He was earlier honoured with several prestigious awards including the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi award by the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Ministry of Education, Government of India and the Kashi Samman among others. In his thanksgiving address, Prof Suresh lamented the decline of linguistic standards in journalism and emphasized on the need for the younger generation to mandatorily study literature.
