UGC releases new list, removes name of MCU from list of defaulter Universities
Steps taken after Vice Chancellor Prof Suresh raises objection
Bhopal, 7th July, 2024: The University Grants Commission has removed the name of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Journalism and Communication University from the list of defaulter universities of the country for not appointing the Ombudsman. It is noteworthy that the University Grants Commission had included the name of MCU in the list of defaulter universities for not appointing the Ombudsman. Due to the prompt efforts of the MCU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K.G. Suresh, orders for the appointment of former retired Principal District and Sessions Judge Shri Omprakash Sunraya were issued by the University on June 7 itself. It is noteworthy that the Vice-Chancellor of MCU, Prof. (Dr.) K.G. Suresh had written a letter to UGC registering deep objection in this matter. After which the University Grants Commission took steps and released a new updated list on July 2 in which the name of MCU has been removed from the list of defaulter universities. Regarding this Prof. Suresh has thanked UGC. Expressing his gratitude, he said that due to lack of communication, there was some misunderstanding, which has been rectified by the UGC. Pro. Suresh said that amid the process of appointment of Lokpal, the code of conduct was imposed due to the Lok Sabha elections. Immediately after its removal, orders for the appointment of Lokpal were issued by the MCU administration on June 7. He said that the university follows all the rules of UGC smoothly and implements them promptly.Vice Chancellor Prof. Suresh said that the National Education Policy has also been implemented by the MCU three years ago. Whereas in many universities it has not been implemented yet. MCU takes all matters very seriously and takes decisions very quickly.
